What is the AI Residency?
A working home for founders building AI products in Malaysia. Residents share co-working space in Kuala Lumpur, take part in regular demos, and get support with product, engineering, and fundraising while shipping for a global market.
Who can apply?
Early teams building AI-native products. We look for founders who are already shipping or ready to go all-in — typically small teams with a clear product direction, not just an idea slide deck.
What do residents get?
A permanent desk at 500 Global in Kuala Lumpur, fast internet and meeting rooms, weekly Show & Tell sessions, and hands-on support across technical work, product, go-to-market, content, and fundraising.
Is there a fee to join?
The residency is an invitation-based programme for selected teams. Application details and any programme terms are shared during the review process after you apply.
Do I need to relocate to Kuala Lumpur?
The residency is centred on the 500 Global space in Kuala Lumpur as a daily working base. Teams outside KL can still apply; expect to use the space regularly if accepted.
What is Show & Tell Thursday?
An open weekly session for builders to share what they shipped, get feedback, and meet the community. Cowork often starts earlier in the day, with the demo session around 4pm. Visitors can join via the Show & Tell signup.
What kind of startups are you looking for?
AI-native companies building real products — from knowledge tools and document AI to voice, education, and industry software. Current residents span customer experience, knowledge systems, document AI, voice, and education.
How long does the residency last?
Teams join as active residents while they are building from the space. Timing is discussed case by case during the application review rather than as a fixed classroom cohort length.
